New Product Releases

Discover new features built to streamline your workflow.

Backstory's August 2026 release brings a new My Meetings view, more precise admin controls for permissions and forecasting, expanded Pipeline Changes access, and a simpler way to authenticate with Backstory MCP.

Permission and Object Visibility Settings

Admins can now control user access in Backstory Engagement Dashboards more precisely. Permission settings control access to Backstory configuration tools and team dashboards, while Object Visibility settings control whose account and opportunity data users can view.

My Meetings (Beta)

My Meetings provides a dedicated in-app view of your upcoming and past meetings. It brings together calendar meetings, matched opportunities or accounts, participant details, and Backstory’s AI-powered summary.

Beta: My Meetings is not enabled by default. To request access, contact your Customer Success Manager.

Forecast Submission Field Defaults

Admins can now choose whether new forecast submissions are pre-populated with the latest rolled-up pipeline values or a user’s previous forecast submission. Admins configure Submission Field Default in the Forecast Fields tab of the Forecast Type.

Pipeline Changes View

Pipeline Changes, formerly known as Waterfall Charts, is now available to all Forecasting users, including sales representatives. Previously available only to managers, Pipeline Changes helps users understand how and why their pipeline has changed over time.

Weekly Forecast Trends Email (Beta)

Admins can configure a Weekly Forecast Trends Email that shows the email recipient how their forecast has changed since the previous week.

Beta: Weekly Forecast Trends Email is not enabled by default. To request access, contact your Customer Success Manager.

Fiscal Year View (Beta)

Admins can now configure forecasts to display by fiscal year instead of by quarter. When enabled, you can view forecasts for the current or next fiscal year.

Beta: Fiscal year views are not enabled by default. To request access, contact your Customer Success Manager.

MCP Authentication Update

Backstory MCP no longer requires Salesforce credentials for authentication. Users can now connect using their Backstory credentials, making Backstory MCP available even if your organization uses another CRM.
