Multi-Measure Charts and KPIs

Unlock Deeper Insights with Multi-Measure Charts and KPIs!

Updated over a month ago

Tired of juggling multiple charts to understand your team's performance? Our new Multi-Measure visualization feature in Engagement Dashboards lets you compare up to five key metrics in a single Board tile, eliminating clutter and empowering data-driven decisions.

What is it?

The Multi-Measure feature enhances Engagement Dashboards by allowing you to visualize and compare multiple metrics (measures) within a single chart or KPI tile.

  • Charts: Display multiple measures as separate series for direct comparison.

  • KPIs: Compare multiple measures over time, even though only one measure is prominently displayed.

This simplifies data analysis and provides a holistic view of performance, all within one tile.

Key Benefits:

  • Simplified Analysis: Compare multiple metrics in one place, eliminating the need to switch between different charts.

  • Holistic View: Gain a comprehensive understanding of performance by visualizing related metrics together.

  • Data-Driven Decisions: Make faster, more informed decisions based on clear and concise data visualizations.

  • Reduced Clutter: Consolidate multiple charts into single tiles, decluttering your dashboards.

How it Works:

Multi-Measure Charts:

  1. Access: Access the feature when creating or editing a chart in Engagement Dashboards.

  2. Select Measures: Use the updated field picker and popover component to select up to five measures and their aggregations (e.g., sum, average, count).

  3. Visualize: Measures appear as separate series on the chart.

  4. Chart Types: Primarily optimized for bar and area charts (stacked or side-by-side). Other chart types may have limited functionality.

  5. Coloring & Legends: Each series has a distinct color, customizable by the user. A legend clearly labels each series. The overall "Color By" option is disabled to prevent visual overload.

  6. Interaction: Interact with the chart like any other chart in Engagement Dashboards, including hover for values, drill-down, and filtering (filters apply to all measures).

  7. Drill-Down Table: The drill-down table includes all selected measures as columns.

Multi-Measure KPIs:

  1. Add Measures: Add multiple measures via the updated field picker.

  2. Primary Measure: The first selected measure is displayed prominently.

  3. Comparisons: Compare the primary measure against another selected measure or a time range.

  4. Comparison Types: Choose between direct measure comparison or time-based comparison.

  5. Comparison Display: The comparison is displayed on the KPI tile, showing the difference and percentage change.

  6. Custom Labels: Customize comparison labels for clarity.

  7. Drill-Down & Data Pane: All selected measures are available in the drill-down table and data pane.

Things to consider:

  • Five Measure Limit: Maximum of five measures per chart/KPI.

  • Filtering: Filters apply to all measures equally.

  • Sorting: Charts can only be sorted by one measure at a time.

  • No Per-Measure Configuration: Visualization options apply to the entire chart/KPI.

  • No Multiple Comparisons in KPIs: Only one comparison can be displayed at a time.
