Custom Data Loader for Forecasting

Add important business data like quotas and targets directly into your forecasting reports.

The Custom Data Loader allows admins to upload additional fields in Forecasting to include supporting data from sources outside of Salesforce. Admins create a “Static” field in the Forecast Type, download the CSV template, enter the values, and upload it. These values then appear directly in the forecasting report, giving managers the context they need.

How to Access the Custom Data Loader

  1. In the Forecasting Admin UI, click the menu icon in the top-left of the page.

  2. Select Admin Panel from the dropdown.

  3. Under FORECAST TYPES, click the forecast you want to change.

  4. Click the Forecast Fields tab.

How to Use the Custom Data Loader

Add a Static Field to a Forecast Type

  1. At the bottom of the Forecast Fields page, click + Add field.

  2. Create a new field and set its type to Static.

Download and Update the CSV

  1. In the Forecast Fields page, click Download Static Values.

  2. Select the desired quarter from the dropdown.

  3. This exports a CSV with:

    • Node Name (user/territory name in your forecast hierarchy)

    • Node Ownership External ID (Salesforce ID)

    • Separate columns for each static field. The field’s slug name is displayed.

  4. Fill in the values you want to display in the forecast. Do not change the slug name in your csv, as the system uses them to properly map the data.

Upload the Static Values

  1. Click Update Static Values.

  2. Choose the Fiscal Period (quarter) you want to update.

  3. Select the CSV file you updated.

  4. Upload the file.

Once the file processes, the new values appear immediately in the Forecasting view.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What happens if my CSV has errors?

After uploading, the confirmation window includes a link to download a processing log where you can see:

  • Rows that failed

  • Error messages

  • What needs to be fixed before re-uploading

Is the Custom Data Loader an automatic sync?

No. The CSV upload provides a one-time snapshot of your data. If the source system changes, you’ll need to upload a new CSV to update the values.

Can I upload data for multiple quarters at once?

No. Data must be uploaded for each quarter individually. To keep your forecasting data accurate, plan to update the CSV at least once per quarter.
