PeopleGlass Glossary
Updated over 6 months ago

Overview

Although PeopleGlass is incredibly easy to use, you may encounter some terms that can be unfamiliar, especially if you're not a heavy Salesforce user.

Not to worry! The below list covers the most common terms.

Custom Objects

A custom object is any object that didn't come in Salesforce's default setup. Instead, a Salesforce admin created this object manually. PeopleGlass automatically syncs custom objects for you if you have any sheets that have custom objects.

Filters
You can filter your sheets to only show specific records and create a customized view of your Salesforce data. We use a Salesforce scope to set predefined filters, such as "My Accounts" or "My Team's Opportunities."

Filter Groups

You can turn on filter groups through the filter modal to use "and/or" logic and create groups of filters for more complex filtering.

Object

Objects are database tables that allow you to store data specific to the organization in Salesforce. Within PeopleGlass, we display these objects in a sheet view. Examples of objects are Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, and Leads.

Comments

Users can comment on any field they have access to in Salesforce within PeopleGlass and tag team members by mentioning @name. Comments are public, so anyone with access to the field will be able to see the comment if they have the record on their sheet.

Custom Columns
Custom columns are fields within PeopleGlass that do not sync back to Salesforce. They can be used for private notes, linking info to opportunities, resource allocation, etc. If you share a sheet with private columns, whoever you share them with will have view and edit access to your private columns.

Related Objects

Related objects are objects that are linked together. For example, opportunities that are linked to an account object are considered related objects.

Refresh Connection
When your Salesforce admin makes changes to your Salesforce instance, sometimes it is not synced immediately with PeopleGlass. To ensure that your PeopleGlass instance matches your user profile in Salesforce, we may ask you to apply the refresh connection feature in PeopleGlass.

Sheets
We display Salesforce data through a "sheet" view where you can easily create and update sheets that sync instantly with Salesforce. Sheets are tied to Salesforce objects, such as Accounts, Leads, and Opportunities. You can either create custom views based on a specific object or pull in existing Salesforce Lists to use as templates.

Sorting
If you want to display your sheet in alphabetical or descending/ ascending order based on specific fields or columns, you can sort your sheet by individual columns.

Standard Object

A standard object is any object that is available in Salesforce's default setup, such as Accounts Opportunities, Contacts, and Leads.
